During the first week of Peter's summer break he travelled up to Market Rasen in Lincolnshire to help at a control point on a cycling event. Audax UK is the long distance cycling club where the length of the ride is more important than the speed attained - they are definitely not races, despite there being time limits for each event. The premier event in the UK calendar is LEL: London-Edinburgh-London, and it was on this event that Peter helped along with his daughter, Louisa.
Of the 1000 riders half were from overseas, attempting to complete the 1400km (875 mile) event in under 5 days, involving lots of night riding and little sleep. Up till now Peter's longest ride is 300km (186 miles) so he is a long way away from attempting LEL! The picture shows Peter with Louisa and two of the riders who were just(!) 275km from the finish.
